Day 46

All Cops Are Bastards

Yesterday, 19th of April 2013,
I experienced one of the much common paradoxes in Egypt.
While violent clashes bursted near Tahrir Square
we were just 400 mt away enjoing a party on a terrace,
drinking whisky while the dj was mixing some David Guetta's hit.
Before coming here I knew I would have faced a very bipolar situation,
but it feels very strange when you are in a bmw, dressed as for the best party ever in Milan, wearing high heels and heading to a private event for the launch of a fashion e-commerce website

and on the parallel bridge, which you can see from the car,
there are gunshots, injured guys probably my age and burnt cars.
And to be aware of it thanks to Twitter makes the situation even more bizarre.

As for the reaction of the egyptians that were with us,
"Clashes?Of course...it's Friday!"

Here you can find the article about the street battle triggered by Islamist protesters.

PS the most consistent fact of the night was that durin the prayers, the dj turn down the music for three mins.
Very consistent, indeed.
